Bakutel 2012 was held in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan International Telecommunications and Information Technologies Exhibition and Conference, BakuTel 2012, has now come to an end. One of the most ambitious, popular and largest by attendance, this exhibition closes the 2012 season.
BakuTel is always an interesting and rich exhibition, showing the public all the latest and most significant innovations in ICT. This event, which literally opens a window on the future for everybody, allows us to look at how our world will change under the influence of information technology. Every year, by meeting here, hundreds of companies from various countries get an opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss current issues, establish partnerships and lay the groundwork for future co-operation.
The pprezident, who traditionally shows interest in both the industry and the largest ICT exhibition in the region, Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva visited BakuTel 2012 on its opening. During the VIP tour, the head of state examined the products and services of leading local and international manufacturers, and visited the stands of the Centre for Research and Development of High Technologies, Easy Service, Aztelekom, Delta Telecom, Bakcell, Azerkosmos, ZTE Corporation, Azerfon and Azercell. He also visited the Austrian national stand. The president’s attention was drawn to the fact that this year the exhibition is being attended by 160 companies from countries including the United States, Belarus, China, the Republic of Korea, Lithuania, Malaysia, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and other countries. Austria, Estonia, Lithuania, France, Croatia, Israel, Slovenia and Canada are represented at the exhibition by national groups. Domestic IT companies, mobile operators, distributors, telecom operators and service providers are also showcasing their products and services at the exhibition.
This year, the participants at BakuTel include leading local and international IT companies, mobile operators, retailers, telecoms operators and service providers. The participants presented new IT products and services, which will soon find their application in industry. On display are innovations in the fields of ICT, software and services for satellite communications, broadcasting equipment, etc. The newcomers at this year's exhibition demonstrated portable mobile and analogue radios, smartphones, landline phones, tablet computers, advanced test equipment for telecommunication systems, gadgets and much more. BakuTel 2012 also featured an active innovation component. The exhibition remains focused on the aerospace industry, the creation of a satellite ground control structure and personnel training. Thus, one of the participants in the sector is Azerkosmos, which is preparing to put the first Azerbaijani telecommunications satellite, ‘Azersat’, into space.
The Internet Governance Forum (IGF), launched in parallel with BakuTel was being attended by delegates from all over the world. This was the first time that the capital of Azerbaijan has hosted the IGF, which is supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Republic. The Forum had invited more than 1,500 delegates to attend, including representatives of the ministries of various countries, international organizations, the world's largest Internet companies and telecommunications experts.
